The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level admission test for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 26 National Law Universities in India. The CLAT 2027 exam will be held in offline mode on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Consortium of National Law Universities opened the online application portal on 3 August 2026, and the last date to register is 31 October 2026

  • Exam Pattern & Structure
    The UG-CLAT 2027 remains a 2-hour offline test featuring 120 multiple-choice questions. The question framework is entirely passage-based, carrying 1 mark per correct answer and a negative marking penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect choice. The test assesses five primary segments:
  • English Language
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques
  • Basic Eligibility Criteria
    • UG Programme (5-Year LLB): Minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 or equivalent exams (40% for SC/ST/PwD categories). Students appearing for their board exams in March/April 2027 are also eligible to apply.
    • PG Programme (1-Year LLM): Minimum of 50% marks in an LL.B. degree or equivalent (45% for SC/ST/PwD categories).
    • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for either program.
